The Indian Institute of Metals (IIM) Bangalore Chapter, with headquarters at Kolkata, is the premier organization representing metallurgists and metallurgical engineers in India. Founded in 1946 by a group of metallurgists, IIM is the largest professional organisation for metallurgists in India with over 8000 members from R&D laboratories, academia and industry. The Institute carries out its activities through three divisions, viz., Ferrous, Non-Ferrous and Metal Sciences and 58 chapters across the country. The Institute is recognised and supported by the Government of India through the Ministry of Steel and is highly regarded in the world today. |
